vampires introduction. the stars of much popular literature, vampires are a mythical race of beings who survive by feeding on the blood of mortals. They are known by different names, such as vampir in Serbia, vrykolakas in Greece and strigoi in Romania. vampires until the latest century were thought to be savages, wild animals driven crazy by bloodlust. the birth of the sophisticated vampire was only recent, with the publication of The Vampyre by John Polidori bringing forth a new species of charismatic, beautiful vampires.
appearance. though the actual physical appearance of vampires is widely speculated, vampires are often seen as beautiful creatures, normally handsome men and women, with sexual charisma. they are often thought as striking, with pale skin, a gaunt, thin face and large eyes and a predatory, cat-like gait. Physically they are nearly always attractive as a means of catching prey, however it is not uncommon for they to have physical imperfections. a vampires voice is another important tool in their guise, as in literature it is described to have a melodic, slightly hypnotic tone, often pleasing to the ears of the opposite sex. in many stories mortals easily become infatuated with the vampire race due to their inhuman beauty.
personality. the persona of a vampire is widely varied. some are described as egomaniacs, having a narcissus view to their beauty, mingling only with the beautiful humans. others describe them much as an outcaste, with withdrawn, quiet personalities, with a deep loathing or sorrow for mortals, and a reluctance to be with them or their own kind. a common attribute is their hidden torment and power, which gives them a firmness of character.

sirens introduction. the mermaid like seductresses, often associated with water nymphs, have been around with ancient greece. the mythical race, known as sirens, are a nautical species, linked closely with the sea and large bodies of water. a race strictly dominated by females, they embody feminine characteristics and charm. countless works of art, including whimsical paintings by John Waterhouse display them as tall, beautiful women, often holding a musical instrument such as a harp, with long curled hair and superb robes. however, they are not always depicted as gentility, with many Grecian pots and artworks displaying them as amazonian, with scimitars raised above their bare chests. this conflict of both beauty and death makes them an appealing, unique race.
appearance. sirens are often thought of as beautiful, influential women, alluring and intelligent. much like the roman harpies, the are associated with the appearance of birds, lions and snakes. their bodies are often seductive and flowery, though bearing a certain masculine harshness which compliments their moody personalities. their high soprano voices are their most important attribute and deadly weapon, as in mythology they sang to sailors who were driven mad and either crashed the ship into rocks or threw themselves overboard and drowned. much like vampires, it has a strong hypnotic quality. sirens are often thought to have spanish, french or polish ethnicity.
personality. universally, sirens are thought of as flirty, slightly outrageous females, who's temper is much like the sea. they are not always trustworthy, and are notorious for double crossing passing sailors. vanity plays a large part in their lives, as they are particularly stunning creatures, and as so are sometimes perceived as jealous and petty. though their temper is fiery, they are not necessarily viscous people, however are quick to anger and unpredictable. despite this, they are contrastingly fun and more buoyant than serious. the sea plays a major part in their feelings, and in some stories their emotions reflect the sea and vice versa. because they are often show with instruments, they are thought to have a passion of music and arts, a musical race as much as a violent one.

werewolves introduction. the greek lycanthropes, werewolves are a wolf-human hybrid of immense physical power. werewolves have an ability to shape-shift from their human counter parts into a wolf. this process is sometimes said to be voluntary or with phases of the moon. frequently a part of popular fiction. werewolves have a dominant figure in horror, with tales of werewolves come from many parts of the world, ranging from greater europe to american indians, who involved themselves in all animal forms. in Christianity they were known as the hounds of the devil or the lord. werewolves themselves have vampiric connections, as many legends about them co exist with those of vampires, such as a transfer of the virus or disease via biting.
apperance. when in wolf form, werewolves are said to have a basic canine apperance - a swinging, gaunt stride, low set ears, muscle and fur, and large canine teeth. in this form they can stand in an erect human like posture or take on a more barbaric stature, with four feet on the the ground. out of their form, werewolves are thought to look like any other human being, while taking on some wolfish qualaties. often they are said to be unnaturally tall and fast, with broad shoulders, and keen eyesight. Shaggy hair and a brutish appearance are common physical attributes. while their ethnicity is widely disputed, they are often depicted as either european or american indian.
personality. werewolves' personalities vary from unpredictable, alien people to natural, warm personalities. though in each one there is a fierce, animal like instinct and anger, they have a common regard for nature. they are portrayed as down-to-earth, slightly ambitious people, with either a warm attitude or cool intelligence. they are a closely knitted group, and their loyalty to their pack and spouse in unfathomable. a werewolves devotion is worth its weight in gold, as they are proud people are are not easily persuaded from their first impression. this gives them a certain prejudice - once you have hurt one of their kind, they do not forget and forgive easily. grudges are by far one of their downsides, however these trust worthy, strong people have very few other faults.
